As the People & Culture Business Partner for Nine’s Publishing division you will support a team of 800+ of Australia’s best journalists, photographers, editors, marketers and designers. Reporting directly to the Head of People & Culture - Publishing, Digital, Product & Technology, your remit will be to truly embed yourself in this dynamic business and provide wide ranging support and advice across strategic, industrial and operational matters. Leveraging the strength of the wider People & Culture group functions (Operations, Talent, Case Management, Leadership Development, etc.) you will play a critical role in delivering strategy and business transformation across our newsrooms, supporting senior leadership teams, building capability, and managing high impact change to ultimately drive performance and growth.
Day to day you will:
- Partner closely with the Head of People & Culture and leaders across our Publishing division to understand the business drivers and develop tailored people strategies across editorial, production, marketing and customer contact teams
- Partner with business leaders to identify opportunities to attract, develop and retain people to achieve their potential
- Build and execute on succession/risk management plans in key roles
- Lead organisational development activities to develop and enhance current organisational capabilities
- Provide expert advice and support our leaders through various change and transition programs
- Play a lead role in managing a productive relationship with the MEAA union,
- Provide IR advice and EBA / Award interpretation to Publishing leaders as needed. You will also assist inEBA negotiations from time to time
- Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to People Leaders (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions)
- Work with the broader People and Culture team to embed enterprise wide programs
You are a seasoned HR professional, confident in your ability to influence and drive change with senior leaders. You are adept at operating strategically to build, develop and deliver programs, but you are also willing to roll your sleeves up and deliver on more operational tasks when required. You are a true team player with a flexible, can-do approach to their work, who is comfortable in an environment that is not always black and white. You thrive when given the opportunity to think outside the box, and love the freedom to create and innovate to solve problems and drive outcomes in new ways.
You will bring extensive experience working in a unionised environment, and be confident in interacting with unions and maintaining positive relationships. You will ideally have experience negotiating EBA’s in a similar corporate environment.
What we would like to see on your resume:
- Demonstrated experience negotiating with and influencing Executives and Senior Managers to deliver proactive and commercially focussed HR solutions that are aligned business needs and people strategy.
- Strong understanding of the strategic role of HR in the business and demonstrated capacity to align actions with the bigger picture.
- Experience in the identification, design and delivery of learning and development.
- Experience in working with unions and Enterprise Bargaining Agreements / Awards
- Knowledge of best practice principles for people practices including employee relations, recruitment, reward, performance management, talent development and engagement.
- Demonstrated experience in leading change initiatives and managing projects.
- Experience in development of HR metrics and associated reports
